The February FireWise Home of the Month is just outside Malvern. This beautiful home is almost perfectly FireWise. D. G. Rice and the former owners have demonstrated that FireWise homes can also be graceful, elegant, and fun.

 

 

What a wonderful job of FireWise landscaping these folks have done. Not only is it safe, it's beautiful as well. Note the "lean, clean, and green" defensible space around this home.

This photo shows the beauty of the surrounding area, as well as how much defensible space has been cleared. There is also a swimming pool behind the house which provides opportunity for recreation as well as an emergency water supply.

Careful application of FireWise landscaping techniques have left many trees to beautify the Rice home, but they have been strategically spaced to provide both beauty and fire safety. February's FireWise Home of the Month is a winner in every way.
