The Arkansas FireWise Team is choosing one outstanding FireWise home for each month.

The August FireWise Home of the Month belongs to Gary and Penny Morgan of Wedington Woods, a community approximately ten miles west of Fayetteville on Highway 16. Gary Morgan, the Fire Chief of the Wedington Fire Department, is setting a good example with his award-winning FireWise home.

As this photo shows, a FireWise yard does not have to be barren--just sensible. "Lean, Clean, and Green is a safe philosophy.

This is another good shot showing the Morgan's beautiful FireWise home. With planning like this home demonstrates, there is a very high probability that the home can survive a wildfire if one occurs in the area.
