Arkansas State Parks have made commitments to becoming FireWise in an effort to prevent another disaster like the one on Mt. Petit Jean in the summer of 1980.

These are the Arkansas State Parks Superintendents and Museum Directors at their annual conference at Petit Jean State Park. Immediately following the picture, the group toured the "Seven Hollows Fire" scene which occurred in the summer of 2000.

Many are participating in the FireWise Communities program, have conducted risk assessments, and are representatives on local FireWise boards.
